The 2023 NEOSEC Ocean Literacy Summit: Connecting Climate, Communities, and Coasts

November 15-17, 2023

The ninth biennial New England Ocean Science Education Collaborative (NEOSEC) Ocean Literacy Summit: Connecting Climate, Communities, and Coasts will take place in Gloucester, MA, on November 15 – 17, 2023 at the beautiful Beauport Hotel. We will address coastal issues in New England communities that arise from climate change and how the Ocean Literacy principles help us understand them. We are honored to be able to host the summit in Gloucester during its 400+ anniversary supporting their vision to inspire future generations to honor the past and work collectively to frame the future. The Summit will focus on connecting scientists, educators, and community leaders to critically think about equitable collaboration, share best practices, and provide networking opportunities.

The 2023 Ocean Literacy Summit will be at the Beauport Hotel

We do have a room block at the Beauport Hotel where the Summit will be on Thursday, November 16th. Rooms are available at $209/night plus taxes. If you would like to make a reservation, you can simply fill out this form. You will be responsible for paying for the room upon arrival. They are not requiring a card to hold the room. You can also call 978-282-0008 to book and reference the block the code “OCLIT” and/or “Ocean Literacy Summit”.

Wednesday Evening Trivia at the Great Marsh Brewing Company from 5 to 8 pm

Thursday Talks, Networking, and Learning at the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester from 8:30 to 5pm

Friday Field Trips will run in various locations throughout the day Friday generally from 9 – 11 am, 11-1 pm, or 4 – 6 pm. More details and signups coming soon. Sign up forms will be emailed to those who have registered.

Being a summit sponsor directly supports the advancement of ocean literacy and racial equity in New England. It provides an opportunity for your organization to be highly visible to over 150 scientists, educators and administrators.

NEOSEC is a collaboration of 48 institutions from across New England, including aquariums, museums, universities, government entities, and science and research centers, working collectively to advance ocean literacy.

We invite you to sponsor the conference at one of the levels below. This year we are also offering a menu of impact based sponsorship opportunities to fit organizations’ different priorities.

Traditional Levels

“Ocean Sustainer” – $5,000+

“Ocean Conservator” – $2,500-$4,999

Impact Sponsorship Levels

BIPOC Sponsorship – $500+
Provides financial aid for 1 or more people of color to attend the conference. Includes conference fees and travel support. 

Teacher Sponsorship – $500+
Provides financial aid for 1 or more educators to attend the conference. Includes conference fees, travel support, and a stipend to provide a substitute for the educator. 

Community Participant Sponsorship – $500+
Provides financial aid for 1 or more community members to attend the conference. Includes conference fees and travel support. 

Speaker Sponsorship – $1200+
Provides financial aid for 4 speakers to attend the conference. Includes conference fees. Can be modified to fit your impact goals. 

Graphic Notetaker – $1,000-$2,499
Provides the conference the funds to hire a graphic note taker. Graphic note takers makes the conference more inclusive by making content more accessible, and promotes comprehension.
