Governance & Meetings
NEOSEC members represent organizations and networks concerned with ocean science education, research and government entities. At periodic face-to-face meetings, we develop joint goals for expanding ocean literacy beyond our individual institutions’ reach, leveraging limited resources to make progress together.

NEOSEC members gathered at the Ocean Explorium at New Bedford Seaport in December 2010 to set out a scope for strategic planning. The group produce this wordle based on the question, “what is NEOSEC?”
Governance and Meetings
NEOSEC is led by a Governing Council of representatives from each member organization, which is responsible for planning, prioritizing, tasking work groups, monitoring progress on activities, and facilitating communication within the region. The Council, with sitting Chair, Past-Chair, and Chair-Elect, including representatives and alternates from every institutional member, holds regular conference calls to monitor progress toward goals.
Meetings
At periodic face-to-face meetings, we develop joint goals for expanding ocean literacy beyond our individual institutions’ reach, leveraging limited resources to make progress together. Between face-to-face meetings, subcommittees also convene via conference calls to develop recommendations for the larger Council.
